Overview

What is Seedance 2.5?

Seedance 2.5 is the flagship video model from ByteDance's Doubao team, and the successor to the Seedance 2.0 line. Its headline change is duration: Seedance 2.5 generates up to 30 seconds in one continuous pass, where almost every model in this class — including Seedance 2.0 — tops out around 15 seconds. That difference is not just a bigger number. A 30-second window is long enough to hold a beginning, a turn and an ending inside a single unbroken shot, so you get a scene rather than a fragment.

The second change is reference capacity. Seedance 2.5 accepts up to 50 assets in one request — as many as 30 images, 10 videos and 10 audio clips — which is what makes it hold a character's face, a product's shape or a brand's palette steady across a whole series. Audio is generated together with the picture by default, so footsteps, room tone and dialogue land where the action is. Duration runs from 4 to 30 seconds, output is 480p or 720p, and aspect ratios cover 16:9, 9:16, 1:1, 4:3, 3:4 and 21:9.

One note worth setting straight: Seedance 2.5 is not simply "Seedance 2.0 but higher-resolution". It trades resolution for length and reference depth — 2.0 reaches 1080p, while 2.5 caps at 720p. Pick 2.5 when the shot needs to run long or stay consistent against many references; pick 2.0 when you need the extra pixels. This Seedance 2.5 video generator drives the model directly, one clip per click. The full workflow uses engines like this one under the hood to plan and chain every shot of a narrated story for you.

What people use Seedance 2.5 for

Three flows that only open up once a single take can run a full 30 seconds.

A 30-second scene in one unbroken take

The usual way to fake a long shot is to generate several clips and hide the seams at the cut. Seedance 2.5 removes the problem instead of hiding it: describe the whole beat — a walk through a crowd, a slow reveal, a conversation that turns — and it comes back as one continuous take. Nothing drifts at the join, because there is no join.

Product and brand spots with the look locked down

Hand Seedance 2.5 your packshots, a reference clip of the motion you want and a swatch of the brand palette, and it honours all of them at once. Because the reference budget runs to 50 assets, you can pin the product from several angles rather than hoping one hero image is enough — which is what keeps a shape recognisable when it turns.

Dialogue scenes that arrive with their own audio

Audio in Seedance 2.5 is generated alongside the picture, not dubbed on afterwards, so speech lands on the mouth and the room sounds like the room. For a 30-second two-hander that removes the whole sound pass — no lining up a separate voice track, no rebuilding ambience under it.

Workflow

How it works

Three steps from idea to shareable clip — no editor, no plugins.

01 · Write

Write one prompt

Describe the shot in plain language. Include subject, action, lighting and camera move. The longer the better — modern models reward detail.

02 · Pick

Pick mode + duration

Switch between Text, Image-to-Video, or First / Last frame. Pick the resolution and length you want — the price updates live as you choose.

03 · Generate

Generate, download, iterate

Hit Generate and your clip lands in the library within minutes. Save it, tweak the prompt and run it again, or turn the same idea into a full narrated story video in the Story Into Video workflow.

Story Into Video

Use the Seedance 2.5 video generator inside Story Into Video

This page gives you one Seedance 2.5 clip per click — up to 30 seconds, audio included. For a single scene that is often all you need, and a 30-second take goes a lot further than the 5-second clips this format used to mean.

A full story is still more than one shot. Prototype the look here with single Seedance 2.5 prompts, then take the same idea into the complete workflow — describe your story, pick a style, and the pipeline writes the shot plan, locks your characters across scenes, and generates every shot with narration and subtitles. Generation is asynchronous and a full story takes several minutes, so start it and come back.

Seedance 2.5 FAQ

Is Seedance 2.5 free to try?+
New Story Into Video accounts get a small amount of starter credits, which is enough to generate a Seedance 2.5 clip and judge it for yourself (the exact figure can change — see the pricing page). The live per-generation cost always appears on the generate button before you commit, so there is no surprise charge.
Seedance 2.5 vs Seedance 2.0 — which should I pick?+
Length and consistency versus resolution. Seedance 2.5 runs to 30 seconds in one take and takes up to 50 references, but caps at 720p. Seedance 2.0 stops at 15 seconds with a smaller reference budget, but reaches 1080p. Pick 2.5 for long unbroken scenes or series that must stay on-model; pick 2.0 when you need the extra pixels for a short hero shot.
Does Seedance 2.5 really generate 30 seconds without a cut?+
Yes — 30 seconds is the length of a single generation, not several clips joined together. That is the main reason to reach for it. Duration is continuous from 4 to 30 seconds, so you can ask for 18 or 23 seconds just as easily as 30 and pace the shot to the beat you actually want.
What can I use as a reference, and how many?+
Images, videos and audio, mixed in one request: up to 30 images, 10 videos and 10 audio clips, with a ceiling of 50 assets in total. Images pin a face, a product or a palette; a reference video carries camera language and rhythm; reference audio sets mood or beat. You can also anchor just the first and last frame and let Seedance 2.5 fill the motion between them.
Does Seedance 2.5 understand Chinese prompts?+
ByteDance is a China-based lab and Seedance 2.5 handles Chinese natively, so you can describe the scene, the camera move and the emotional beat in Chinese or English with no quality penalty. Prompts can run long — the limit is about 10,000 tokens — which suits the level of detail a 30-second shot needs.
